Can’t Open Photoshop Because Scratch Disks Are Full Mac?

If you’re a Mac user, you may be familiar with the “scratch disk full” error message. This error can occur when you try to open Photoshop, and it means that your computer doesn’t have enough space to store the Photoshop file you’re trying to open.

There are a few ways to fix this problem, and we’ll cover them all in this article.

The first thing you need to do is identify the file that’s causing the problem. To do this, open Photoshop and go to Preferences > Performance.

In the ” scratch disks” section, you should see a list of all the drives on your computer. The one at the top of the list is the one that Photoshop is currently using as its scratch disk. If this drive is full, then that’s why you’re getting the “scratch disk full” error message.

There are a few ways to fix this problem:

  • Free up space on your scratch disk: The easiest way to fix this problem is to simply free up some space on your scratch disk. You can do this by deleting any unnecessary files or programs from your computer. Once you’ve freed up some space, try opening Photoshop again and see if the problem has been fixed.
  • Use a different drive as your scratch disk: If your main drive is full and you can’t free up any more space on it, then you can try using a different drive as your scratch disk. To do this, go back to Preferences > Performance and choose a different drive from the “scratch disks” list.

Once you’ve selected a different drive, try opening Photoshop again and see if the problem has been fixed.

  • Increase the size of your scratch disk: If you’re using an external drive as your scratch disk, then you may be able to increase its size so that Photoshop has more space to work with. To do this, go to Preferences > Performance, select the external drive from the “scratch disks” list, and click the “Edit” button. In the “Size” field, enter a larger number and click “OK”. Once you’ve increased the size of your scratch disk, try opening Photoshop again and see if the problem has been fixed.
