Does Transferring Domain Affect Email Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 1:51 am

If you’re considering transferring your domain to another provider, you might be wondering how it will affect your email account. The good news is that transferring your domain should not affect your email account with Squarespace.

When you transfer your domain away from Squarespace, we’ll continue to provide DNS hosting for the domain. This means that email services connected to your domain will continue to work as usual. You can continue to use your Squarespace login and password to access your email account.

PRO TIP: If you transfer your domain to another registrar, your email address at Squarespace will no longer work. You’ll need to update your DNS settings to point to a new email provider.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  • We recommend keeping your email account with Squarespace: While we’ll continue to provide DNS hosting for your domain after you transfer it away, we recommend keeping your email account with Squarespace. This will give you the best possible experience and customer support.
  • Your billing date won’t change: If you have an annual plan, transferring your domain won’t change your billing date.

For example, if you originally registered your domain on January 1st and transferred it on March 1st, you would still be billed on January 1st of the following year.

  • You’ll need to update your payment method: If you have a monthly plan and transfer your domain away from Squarespace, you’ll need to update your payment method. This is because we won’t be able to bill you for your monthly subscription once you’ve transferred your domain.

In conclusion, transferring your domain should not affect email Squarespace.
