How Do I Add a Custom Field in Shopify?

Adding a custom field in Shopify is easy! Simply follow these steps:

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Customize. 2. In the Customize theme section, click Add a new custom field. 3. Enter a Field name and Label. The field name is used internally by Shopify, while the label is what will be shown to customers on your store. 4. Choose whether the field is required or not. If you select Required, then customers will need to fill out the field in order to checkout.

5. Select the Field type. This determines what kind of information can be entered into the field. For example, you can choose Text, Number, Date, or Drop-down list. 6. If you selected Drop-down list as the Field type, enter the options for the drop-down list in the Options field. Separate each option by pressing Enter on your keyboard. 7. Click Save to add the custom field to your theme.

That’s it! You’ve now successfully added a custom field to your Shopify store.

PRO TIP: If you are not comfortable working with code, we recommend finding a Shopify Expert to help you with this. Adding a custom field to your shop’s checkout can be done with a little bit of code, but it is not something that we recommend for most users.
