How Do I Add a Parent Category in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 11:21 pm

PRO TIP: Adding a parent category in WooCommerce can be done by following these steps:

1. Log into your WordPress Dashboard and go to WooCommerce > Products.
2. On the Products page, select the Categories tab.
3. Select the add new category button.
4. Type in the name of the new category and select a parent category from the dropdown menu.
5. Click the Add New Category button.

However, before adding a parent category, you should first consider whether or not it is necessary. If you are selling a limited number of products, it may be easier to keep your categoriesorganized without adding a parent category.

Adding a parent category in WooCommerce is simple. First, log into your WordPress Dashboard and go to Products > Categories. Next, click on the Add New Category button.

In the Add New Category page, you’ll want to enter the following information:

Name – This is the name of your category.

Slug – The slug is the URL-friendly version of the name. It’s what will appear in the URL for your category pages.

Parent – The Parent dropdown allows you to assign a parent category if you want this category to be a subcategory. If you don’t want it to be a subcategory, leave this blank.

For example, let’s say you have a “Shoes” parent category and you want to add a “Boots” subcategory. In that case, you would select “Shoes” in the Parent dropdown.

Description – The description is optional, but it’s a good idea to add one so that people know what products will be in this category.

Once you’ve added all the information for your category, click on the Add New Category button to save your changes.
