How Do I Add Custom Options to Shopify?

Adding custom options to your Shopify store can give your customers more control over their shopping experience. By allowing them to choose from a range of options, they can find the perfect product for their needs.

There are a few different ways to add custom options to your Shopify store. The first is to use the built-in option types. These include drop-down menus, radio buttons, and checkboxes.

To add a built-in option type:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products > All products. 2. Find the product that you want to add an option to, and then click Edit. 3. In the Options section, click Add option.

4. Enter a name for your option, and then choose the type of option from the Dropdown menu. 5. Click Add values, and then enter each value for the option. If you’re using a drop-down menu, you can also set a price for each value. 6. When you’re done adding values, click Save changes.

The second way to add custom options is to use product variants. Variants let you offer different versions of a product, each with its own SKU and price. For example, if you’re selling T-shirts, you could create a variant for each size and color combination.

PRO TIP: Adding custom options to your Shopify store can be a great way to offer more products and services to your customers. However, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks involved in doing so.

Custom options can be used to add extra charges to an order, which could lead to customer confusion or even fraud. Make sure you clearly communicate any extra charges that apply to custom options, and consider offering a discount for customers who choose them.

Also be aware that adding custom options can complicate your shipping and fulfillment process. Make sure you have a plan in place for how you’ll handle orders with custom options before you start offering them.

To create a variant:

1. Find the product that you want to add a variant to, and then click Edit.

In the Variants section, click Add variant. 4. Enter a name for the variant (for example, Size or Color), and then enter each value for the variant (for example, Small or Red). You can also set a price for each value by clicking the Price field and entering a number. When you’re done adding values, click Save changes
