How do I add https to DigitalOcean droplet?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 2:31 pm

Adding HTTPS to a DigitalOcean droplet is easy. To do so, open the droplet’s Settings page (click on the droplet in the list on the left side of the main DigitalOcean screen, then click on “Settings”). Under the “General” section, click on the “Security” tab. Click on the “SSL/TLS” button, and then click on the “Add New Certificate” button. In the “Select Certificate Authority” dialog, select the “DigitalOcean” certificate authority, and then click on the “Browse” button. In the “File to Upload” dialog, select the “cert.

pem” file that you downloaded from the DigitalOcean website. Click on the “Upload” button, and then click on the “OK” button. You will now see a “Certificate installed” message in the “Security” tab. Click on the “Close” button, and then click on the “Save” button. You will now see the “HTTPS” status indicator in the “Security” tab.

PRO TIP: If you are adding https to your DigitalOcean droplet, be aware that you may need to update your DNS settings. You can find more information on how to do this here: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-a-custom-domain-with-digitalocean

You can now access your droplet’s web server using https:// Droplet-Name .cloud.
