How do I connect my DigitalOcean droplet?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 2:05 pm

DigitalOcean Droplets are the perfect way to get started with cloud computing. They are affordable, easy to use, and provide a great platform for experimentation.

To connect your DigitalOcean droplet to the internet, you need to provide a network address and port. The network address is the IP address of your droplet, and the port is the port on which your droplet is listening for connections.

To find your droplet’s network address, open the DigitalOcean Control Panel and click on the Droplets tab. Under the Droplets heading, you will see the name of your droplet and the IP address that is assigned to it.

To find your droplet’s port, open a terminal window and type port 8080. The port will be displayed in the output.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with using a DigitalOcean droplet, we recommend that you seek help from someone who is before attempting to connect it. Incorrectly connecting your droplet can result in data loss or corruption, and may render your droplet unusable.

Now that you have your network address and port, you can connect your computer to the droplet.

To connect to your droplet, open a terminal window and type ssh dropletname. dropletname is the name of your droplet.

For example, if your droplet’s name is mydroplet, you would type ssh mydroplet.

If everything goes smoothly, you will be prompted to enter your droplet’s password. Once you have logged in, you will be able to access the droplet’s files and settings.
