How Do I Angle an Image in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:39 pm

There are a few ways to angle an image in Photoshop. The first way is to use the Free Transform tool. With the layer selected that you want to rotate, go to Edit > Free Transform, or use the shortcut Ctrl+T (Win) / Command+T (Mac).

This will bring up the Free Transform bounding box and handles around your layer. Then, click on one of the corner handles and drag it in or out to rotate the layer. You can also hold down the Shift key as you do this to keep the layer constrained to 15-degree increments.

Another way to rotate a layer is to use the Rotate tool. Go to Edit > Transform > Rotate, or use the shortcut Ctrl+T (Win) / Command+T (Mac), then click on the Rotate tool in the options bar.

This will put a rotational handle at the center of your layer. Click on this handle and drag it around to rotate your layer. Again, you can hold down Shift as you do this to constrain the rotation to 15-degree increments.

PRO TIP: When angling an image in Photoshop, be careful not to distort the image too much. Excessive distortion can make the image look unnatural and can be difficult to fix.

To angle text specifically, you can use either of these methods or you can use the Character panel. With your text layer selected, go to Window > Character (or use the shortcut F8).

In the Character panel, there is a rotation option near the bottom. You can either enter a value manually or use the small arrows next to the field to incrementally rotate your text layer.

Conclusion:

To angle an image in Photoshop, you can use either the Free Transform tool or the Rotate tool. To angle text specifically, you can use either of these methods or you can use the Character panel.
