BackUPS are an important part of website maintenance. Joomla! makes it easy to create backUPS of your database and website files.

You can create backUPS using the Backup feature in the Joomla! Administrator.

To create a backup of your Joomla! website:

1. Access the Joomla! Administrator.

2. In the left-hand column, click Backup.

3. In the Backup window, click Add Site.

4. In the Add Site window, type the URL of your Joomla! website.

5. In the Files to Backup field, select the files you want to include in your backup.

6. In the Backup Type field, select the type of backup you want to create.

7. In the Schedule field, specify the time at which you want the backup to be created.

8. Click Save.

9. The backup will be created and will be available in the Backup tab of the Joomla! Administrator.

To restore a backup:

3. In the Backup window, click Restore Site. In the Restore Site window, type the URL of your Joomla! website. In the Files to Restore field, select the files you want to restore from your backup. In the Restore Type field, select the type of backup you want to restore. In the Schedule field, specify the time at which you want the restoration to be completed. Click Restore. The restoration will be completed and the files will be available in the Backup tab of the Joomla! Administrator.

PRO TIP: Backing up your Joomla database and website is an important part of maintaining your Joomla site. However, it is important to note that backing up your site is not a substitute for backing up your database. If you only back up your Joomla database, you will lose all of your website’s content, including articles, images, and customizations.
