How Do I Block WooCommerce?

Last updated on January 15, 2023 @ 6:43 pm

WooCommerce is a great eCommerce platform and one of the most popular ones available. It allows you to set up an online store and sell products or services. However, there may be times when you need to block WooCommerce.

For example, if you’re selling a physical product that is out of stock, you may want to disable your online store until you have more inventory. Or, if you’re going on vacation, you may want to disable your store so that customers can’t purchase anything while you’re away. There are a few different ways that you can block WooCommerce.

1. Disable the shopping cart

If you want to disable WooCommerce completely, you can do so by disabling the shopping cart. To do this, go to WooCommerce > Settings and then click on the Checkout tab.

From here, you will see an option to disable the shopping cart. Once you check this box and save your changes, your store will be disabled and customers will not be able to purchase anything.

2. Use a plugin

There are also plugins available that can help you disable WooCommerce. One plugin that we recommend is Woo Offline Mode.

This plugin allows you to put your store into offline mode so that customers can’t purchase anything. You can also customize the message that they see when they try to access your store.

PRO TIP: If you are considering blocking WooCommerce, be aware that this could have negative consequences for your online store. WooCommerce is a popular eCommerce platform that powers many online stores. Blocking WooCommerce could result in lost sales and customers.

3. Add a maintenance mode plugin

If you just want to disable your store for a short period of time, such as for vacation or while you’re working on updates, then you can use a maintenance mode plugin. This will put your store into maintenance mode and display a message saying that it is currently unavailable. Customers will still be able to browse your products, but they will not be able to add anything to their cart or checkout.

4. Use the WordPress default maintenance mode

If you don’t want to install a plugin, then you can also use the WordPress default maintenance mode. To do this, edit your WordPress address and site address in the wp-config.php file and add the following code:

define( 'WP_MAINTENANCE_MODE', true );

Once you add this code and save your changes, your store will be in maintenance mode and customers will see a message saying that it is currently unavailable.
