The Background

In Photoshop, you can change the background to any color you like by using the Background command. To do this, open the Background palette by clicking on the Background command in the Tools palette, or by pressing the key combination B (default).

The Background palette will open, showing all the available colors. To change the background color, select the color you want from the palette, and then click on the OK button.

Photoshop will automatically change the background to the selected color.

PRO TIP: If you are working in an image with a white background and you want to change the background to white, you need to be careful. You may end up erasing the image completely if you are not careful.

If you want to change the background color but don’t want to leave Photoshop, you can also use the Background command to create a new fill layer. To do this, first create a new layer by clicking on the New Layer button in the Layers palette, or by pressing the key combination N (default).

Then, select the color you want for the new layer’s background, and click on the OK button. Photoshop will create a new fill layer with the selected color as its background.

Conclusion

In this article, we’ve shown you how to change the background color in Photoshop. Whether you want to use a new color or keep Photoshop open so you can continue working on your photo project, changing the background color is easy with Photoshop.
