How do I change the login page in Joomla?

Last updated on December 26, 2022 @ 1:36 pm

If you are looking to change the login page in Joomla, there are a few different ways to accomplish this. You can change the login page in the backend by editing the configuration file, or by using the Extension Manager.

Additionally, you can change the login page in the frontend by editing the template files.

To edit the configuration file, locate the Joomla backend folder (usually located at c:\Joomla\), and open the configuration file (default name: Joomla.config).

In the <config> section, look for the <login> section and change the value of the login parameter to the desired URL. For example, if you want to use the login page at http://localhost/Joomla, you would set the login parameter to http://localhost/Joomla/

PRO TIP: If you are not a Joomla administrator, do not attempt to change the login page. Only administrators can access this page, and only they should change the login page settings. If you are not an administrator and you attempt to change the login page, you will receive an error message.

To use the Extension Manager, first install the Joomla Extension Manager by clicking the button on the Joomla frontend. Then, locate the Extension Manager and click the button.

In the resulting window, locate the Joomla login extension and click the button. In the resulting window, you will be able to change the login page.

Alternatively, you can change the login page in the templates by locating the template file that you want to change and editing the <head> and <body> sections. In the <head> section, you will need to locate the <title> tag and change the value to the desired login page title.

In the <body> section, you will need to locate the <form> tag and change the value to the desired login page URL.
