How do you change the maximum upload size in Joomla?

Last updated on August 27, 2023 @ 10:38 am

Joomla is a popular content management system (CMS) used to create websites. As you grow your Joomla website and add more content, you might find yourself needing to adjust certain settings. One common adjustment is altering the maximum upload size, especially if you’re dealing with larger files or media. The maximum upload size is a setting that determines the maximum size of files that can be uploaded to a Joomla website.

Modifying this parameter ensures that you can seamlessly add larger files or media without any hitches. This setting is located in the “Content” module of the Joomla admin area.

To change the maximum upload size in Joomla:

1. Open the “Content” module of the Joomla admin area.

2. In the Content section, locate the “Media” setting.

3. In the Media window, click on “Options.”

4. In the Options window, find the “Maximum Size (in MB)” field and input a new value.

NOTE: Before making any configuration changes to your Joomla site, make sure that you understand the implications. Incorrect adjustments can impact site functionality.

4. Click “Save.”

Congratulations! Your new maximum upload size has been set.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to change the maximum upload size in Joomla, please be aware that this may break your website if not done correctly. Always back up your website before making any changes.
