How Do I Change the Opacity in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 8:10 pm

The opacity property in CSS defines how opaque an element is. Opacity is the degree to which content behind an element is hidden, and is the opposite of transparency. An element with greater opacity is more visible than one with lower opacity.

There are four levels of opacity in CSS: fully opaque, semi-opaque, transparent, and fully transparent. Opacity can be set using the opacity property, and is a number between 0 and 1, where 0 is fully transparent and 1 is fully opaque.

PRO TIP: Some users have reported that they are unable to change the opacity of elements in Canva. We recommend that you do not attempt to change the opacity of elements in Canva, as this may cause unexpected results.

The opacity property can be set on all HTML elements, but it is not inherited by child elements. Therefore, if you set the opacity of an element to 0.5, any child elements will not be affected.

To change the opacity of an element in Canva, first select the element you want to modify. Then, in the top toolbar, click on the “Opacity” icon (it looks like a sun).

A slider will appear next to the icon; slide it to the left to make the element more transparent, or to the right to make it more opaque. You can also type in a specific value between 0 and 1 in the input field next to the slider.
