How Do I Change the Overlay Color of a Caption in Squarespace?

Last updated on December 27, 2022 @ 5:09 pm

When you create a new Squarespace site, you’re given the option to choose a site title and tagline. These appear in the header area on every page of your site, and you can change them at any time. If you want to add some personality to your site, or just make the text stand out more, you can change the color of the overlay.

To change the overlay color:

    1. Go to Design > Colors.
    2. In the Header section, click the Overlay Color drop-down and select a color.
    3. Click Save.

If you want to style your text using HTML tags, you can do so by selecting the HTML button in the rich text editor. This will allow you to add tags like <p>, <b> and <u> to your text, which will then be rendered on your site accordingly.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that changing the overlay color of a caption in Squarespace can result in unexpected changes to your site’s design. If you are not confident in your ability to make this change, we recommend seeking out professional help.
