How Do I Convert CMYK to PMS in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 1:16 am

To convert from CMYK to PMS in Photoshop, you’ll need to use the “Edit Colors” tool. This can be found in the “Image” menu, under “Adjustments.”

Once you’ve selected this tool, you’ll see a drop-down menu that says “Mode.” From here, you’ll need to select “RGB.”

PRO TIP: This note is to warn you about the possible consequences of using the wrong color profile when converting from CMYK to Pantone colors in Photoshop. If you don’t have the correct color profile for your device, or if you’re not using a color management system, you could end up with some serious color shifts. These color shifts can be very difficult to correct, and may result in your final print job being significantly different from what you intended.

Now that your image is in RGB mode, go to the “Edit” menu and select “Convert to Profile.” A new window will pop up; from here, select “Working RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1,” and then click “OK.”

Your image is now ready to be converted to PMS! To do this, go back to the “Edit Colors” tool and select “PMS Color Mode.” You’ll see a new window pop up with a color wheel; from here, you can choose any color you like.

Once you’ve selected your color, click “OK,” and then save your image. Congratulations, you’ve now successfully converted CMYK to PMS in Photoshop!
