How Do I Convert Multiple Images to JPEG in Photoshop?

Last updated on April 3, 2023 @ 4:18 pm

There is one straightforward way to convert multiple images to JPEG in Photoshop. That is to use the “Batch” feature. With the Batch feature, you can specify a set of actions to be performed on a group of files, and then let Photoshop run the action on all the files in the group. To use the Batch feature, follow the steps enumerated below:

1. Create two folders. One is the source folder containing the original images to be converted and the second one is the destination folder where the converted JPEG images will be contained.

2. Open one image. Select one image from the original images and open it in Photoshop.

NOTE: In this example, we will be converting images with the PNG file type into JPEG files.

3. Open the Actions window. You can do this by selecting “Actions” from the Window menu.

4. Create a new set of actions. To do this, just click on the folder icon at the bottom part of the Actions window and type in the name for the new set in the pop-up window that will appear.

PRO TIP: If you are using Photoshop to convert multiple images to JPEG, be sure to save a copy of your original image files first. JPEG is a lossy file format, which means that some quality will be lost when the images are converted.

5. Add a new action to the set and start recording. To do this, select the “+” icon at the bottom part of the Actions window. Then, type in the name for your new action and click on the “Record” button to start recording.

6. Export the image. Now we can start recording the actions for converting our PNG format image to a JPEG format. For the first action, go to Export > Save for Web (Legacy).

7. Save the image as a JPEG file. In the new window that will appear, select the “JPEG” file format and click on the “Save” button.

8. Select the file location and format, then save the image. For the file location, select the folder that you created earlier where the converted files will be contained. Then, select “Images Only” for the format and click on the “Save” button.

9. Close the image. For the last step to record, go to the File menu again and select “Close” to close the image.

10. Stop recording the actions. To do this, simply go to the Actions window and click on the “Stop recording” button at the bottom of the window.

11. Open the Batch window to start automation. Now that we have recorded the actions to convert the PNG format image into a JPEG format, we need to automate the process to apply it to multiple images. To do this, go to File > Automate > Batch.

12. Adjust the batch automation settings. In the Batch window that will appear, set up the automation of the conversion process. In the Play section, select the set and action created earlier in the Actions window. For the Source section, choose the folder containing the images to be converted. Lastly, for the Destination section, choose the folder where you want to save the converted JPEG format images. Once done, click on the “Ok” button.

13. Wait for the automation process to be finished and check the destination folder for the converted files. Photoshop will then proceed with the automated process of converting multiple images to the JPEG format and there you have it! You can now easily convert bulk images using the Batch feature!

So there you have it – the detailed steps on how to convert multiple images to JPEG in Photoshop! Whether you’re using the Batch feature, Actions feature, or Export command, each method is quick and easy to do.
