How Do I Create a Cname Record in Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:34 am

A CNAME record is an alias for another domain name. When you create a CNAME record, you specify the domain name that you want to alias, as well as the destination domain.

For example, you might want to create a CNAME record for www.example.com that points to example.com. When users type www.com in their browser, they will be taken to example.

Creating a CNAME record is simple with Squarespace. Just follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Squarespace account and enter your site.
  2. Click the Settings icon, and then click Domain Names.
  3. Click the domain name you want to edit.
  4. Scroll down to DNS Records and click Add Record.
  5. In the Record Type drop-down menu, select CNAME.
  6. In the Host field, enter the host name or subdomain you want to alias. For example, if you want www.com to point to example.com, enter www in the Host field.
  7. In the Points To field, enter the destination domain. In our example, you would enter example.
  8. Leave the TTL field set to Automatic unless you have a specific need to change it.
  9. Click Save.
