How Do I Delete Recent Projects in Photoshop?

Last updated on December 4, 2022 @ 8:31 am

When you’re done with a project in Photoshop, you may want to delete it to clear up space on your computer.

To do this, go to the File > Open Recent > Clear Recent File List. This will close the projects and bring you back to the main Photoshop screen.1. Open File Menu and then Open Recent and Clicking Clear Recent File list

PRO TIP: If you are considering deleting recent projects in Photoshop, be aware that this action cannot be undone. Once recent projects are deleted, they are permanently gone and cannot be recovered. If you are sure you want to proceed, be sure to have backups of any files you do not want to lose before proceeding.

It is quick to clear the Recent File List in Photoshop. However, it will be repopulated again if you open files in the future.

To disable this, Go to the General Settings of Photoshop by pressing Ctrl + K. You can also find the general settings under Preferences.2. Getting to General Settings in Photoshop thru Preferences - GeneralGo to “File Handling“, then set the “Recent File List Containsto 0 Files then click “OK“.3. Set the Recent File List Contains to 0 Files then click OKYou’re done at this point! The list of recently opened files will no longer appear in the File menu or on the Home screen.
