How Do I Disable the Cart Function in WooCommerce?

Last updated on January 17, 2023 @ 5:07 pm

When you first install WooCommerce, the shopping cart function is enabled by default. This means that when a customer adds an item to their cart, they are taken to the shopping cart page where they can review their items, make changes if necessary, and then proceed to checkout.

However, there may be times when you want to disable the shopping cart function altogether. For example, if you’re running a single product site, or if you’re using WooCommerce as a catalog only (i.e. customers can browse products but not purchase them).

In this article, we’ll show you how to disable the shopping cart function in WooCommerce.

1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings.

2. On the General tab, scroll down to the Miscellaneous section and check the Disable the shopping cart functionality checkbox.

3. Save your changes.

And that’s it! The shopping cart function will now be disabled on your WooCommerce store.

PRO TIP: If you are considering disabling the cart function in WooCommerce, be aware that this will significantly impact your store’s ability to function. Without a cart, customers will not be able to add items to their order, and you will not be able to track what they are buying. This could lead to lost sales and decreased customer satisfaction.
