How Do I Disable the Default Page in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 9:09 pm

If you’re running a WooCommerce store, you might have noticed that there’s a default “Shop” page that’s automatically generated and can’t be deleted. This page displays all of the products in your store, and while it can be useful in some cases, it’s often not the ideal page to use as your store’s homepage. In this article, we’ll show you how to disable the default WooCommerce shop page.

There are two ways to disable the default WooCommerce shop page. The first method is to simply set a different page as your WooCommerce homepage in the Settings area. To do this, go to WooCommerce > Settings in your WordPress admin panel, and then click on the Products tab. On the Products page, you’ll see a section called Display.

In this section, there’s an option called Shop Page. By default, this option is set to the Shop page that’s automatically generated by WooCommerce. However, you can change this setting to any other page on your site.

If you don’t want to use any of the existing pages on your site as your store’s homepage, you can create a new page and set it as your Shop Page. To do this, go to Pages > Add New in your WordPress admin panel.

Create a new page with whatever content you want, and then save it. Once the page is saved, go back to the WooCommerce Settings page and select the new page you just created from the Shop Page dropdown menu.

PRO TIP: If you are using WooCommerce to sell products on your WordPress site, you may want to disable the default WooCommerce pages. These pages include the Shop, Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages. Disabling these pages will remove them from your site’s navigation menu and prevent customers from accessing them.

To disable the default WooCommerce pages, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced. Under the Pages section, select the Disable option for each of the default WooCommerce pages. Save your changes and the default WooCommerce pages will be disabled on your site.

The second way to disable the default WooCommerce shop page is by using a plugin. There are a few plugins out there that will do this for you, but we recommend using the Disable Cart & Checkout Plugin.

This plugin is simple to use and will disable both the cart and checkout pages on your WooCommerce site. Once installed and activated, go to Settings > Disable Cart & Checkout to configure the plugin.

That’s all there is to it! By following either of these methods, you can easily disable the default WooCommerce shop page on your site.

Conclusion:

There are two ways to disable the default WooCommerce shop page: by setting a different page as your WooCommerce homepage in the Settings area or by using a plugin like Disable Cart & Checkout. Whichever method you choose, disabling the shop page is easy and only takes a few minutes.
