How Do I Do a Partial Refund on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 15, 2022 @ 3:05 am

If you need to refund a customer for only part of their order, you can do so directly from the order’s details page in your Squarespace Commerce panel. Here’s how:

    1. Log in to your Squarespace account and go to Billing & Orders.

    2. Find the order you need to refund, and click its Order #.

    3. On the Order Details page, scroll down to the Refunds section.

Note: If you don’t see the Refunds section, the order might have already been fully refunded, or it might be ineligible for a refund. For more information, see our Refunds overview.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you can end up refunding the wrong amount to your customer. Make sure that you check the order details carefully before processing a partial refund.

    4. In the “Amount” field, enter the amount you want to refund. You can also add a note in the “Reason for refund” (optional) field. Click “Refund this amount.”

    5. If prompted, enter your billing password. The amount will be refunded to the original payment method. Click “Done.” (Optional) To print a receipt for the refund, click “Print receipt.”

The process for issuing a partial refund for an order is simple and straightforward. From your Squarespace Billing & Orders panel, locate the order you need to refund, and click on the Order #. On the Order Details page, scroll down to the Refunds section, enter the amount you want to refund in the “Amount” field, and click on “Refund this amount.” If prompted, enter your billing password and click “Done.” The amount will be refunded to the original payment method.
