How Do I Enable Test Purchases on Shopify?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 3:51 am

If you’re new to Shopify, or are thinking about opening a Shopify store, you may be wondering how to enable test purchases. Test purchases are a great way to make sure your store is set up correctly and that your products are working as they should be. In this article, we’ll show you how to enable test purchases on your Shopify store.

Before we get started, it’s important to note that test purchases can only be made using a credit or debit card. This is because Shopify uses the same payment processors as live stores. This means that you won’t be able to use PayPal, Apple Pay, or any other payment methods to make test purchases.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s take a look at how to enable test purchases on your Shopify store.

1. Log in to your Shopify admin area and go to Settings > Payments.

2. Under the Test mode section, check the box next to Enable test mode.

3. Click Save.

That’s it! Test mode will now be enabled on your store and you’ll be able to make test purchases using a credit or debit card. Just keep in mind that you won’t be able to use any other payment methods while test mode is enabled.

PRO TIP: Test purchases allow you to test the checkout process on your shopify store without having to use real payment information. While this can be a useful tool, it is important to remember that test purchases are not real orders and will not result in any actual charges or transactions. Additionally, any order details (including customer information) entered during a test purchase will not be saved.

Test mode is a great way to make sure your store is set up correctly and that your products are working as they should be. We hope this article has helped you learn how to enable test purchases on your Shopify store.
