How Do I Enter Text in Figma?

Last updated on December 1, 2022 @ 1:27 pm

If you’re just getting started with Figma, you may be wondering how to add text to your designs. It’s actually quite simple – all you need to do is select the “Text” tool from the toolbar on the left, then click and drag to create a text box.

Once you’ve created a text box, you can start typing away! If you want to format your text, there are a few options available to you.

To bold your text, for example, simply select the text you want to bold and click the “Bold” button in the toolbar above. You can also underline your text or make it italic in this way.

If you want more control over your text formatting, you can use the HTML < p >,< b > and < u > tags where applicable. These will let you control things like font size, color, and more. Just make sure to wrap your text in these tags before adding it to Figma.

That’s all there is to adding and formatting text in Figma! As you can see, it’s a very simple process that anyone can master with a little practice. So get out there and start adding some great looking text to your designs!

PRO TIP: If you are not careful when entering text in Figma, you could end up with unwanted line breaks or spacing. To avoid this, be sure to use the “Shift+Enter” shortcut to create a new line, rather than just pressing “Enter”.
