PRO TIP: When exporting from Figma to AE, be sure to use the “Export as…” function in the top menu, and not the “Download…” function. Exporting as a .png or .jpg will result in a lower quality image.

Figma is a vector graphics editor and design tool, developed by Figma, Inc. It is available in a web browser as well as a desktop app for macOS and Windows. It offers live collaboration and online editing features similar to Google Docs.

Figma can export designs to Adobe After Effects, which is a digital visual effects, motion graphics, and compositing application developed by Adobe Systems and used in the post-production process of film making and television production.

In order to export from Figma to AE, first select the layers that you want to export in the Layers panel. Then, click on the Export button in the top bar and select Export to Adobe After Effects (.ase) from the dropdown menu.

When the export window appears, make sure that the Scale is set to 100%, then click on the Export button. A .ase file will be downloaded to your computer.

Open Adobe After Effects, then go to File > Import > File. Locate the .ase file on your computer and click Open. The layer will be imported into your project.
