How do I layer an image in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 8:12 pm

In Photoshop, you can layer images to create a composite image. To layer an image, first open the image you want to layer in Photoshop. Next, select the layer you want to layer the image on from the layers palette. Finally, click the layer mask button (the three lines in a triangle).

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, this question can be difficult to answer. There are a few things to consider when layering an image in Photoshop, such as the order of the layers, the transparency of the layers, and the position of the layers. If you are not careful, you can end up with an image that looks distorted or unclear.

This will open the layer masking window. In the layer masking window, you can now paint on the layer mask to hide or show areas of the image. To finish, simply click the OK button to close the layer masking window.
