How Do I Make Glossy Textures in Photoshop?

Last updated on January 24, 2023 @ 3:02 pm

There are a few different ways that you can create glossy textures in Photoshop. One way is to use the “Filter” > “Render” > “Clouds” filter. This will create a cloud texture that you can then apply a “Gaussian Blur” to. Another way is to create a new layer and fill it with black.

Then, go to “Filter” > “Noise” > “Add Noise”. Set the amount to around 50% and the distribution to “Gaussian”. Now apply a “Gaussian Blur” to this layer. You can also try using the “Render” > “Lighting Effects” filter. Experiment with different settings until you find something that you like.

PRO TIP: This article provides detailed instructions on how to create glossy textures in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that glossy textures can be difficult to work with and can often result in a “flat” or “dead” look. If you are not careful, it is easy to end up with a texture that looks more like plastic than anything else.
