How Do I Make My Shopify Site Not Live?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:24 pm

There are a few reasons you might want to make your Shopify site not live. Maybe you’re still working on adding products, or maybe you want to make some changes to the design before you launch. Whatever the reason, there are a few easy steps you can follow to take your site offline.

First, log in to your Shopify admin and go to Settings > General. Under Status, select Closed from the drop-down menu. This will prevent customers from accessing your store.

Next, go to Themes > Customize theme and enter the password you set in the Password field. This will prevent anyone from making changes to your theme while your store is closed.

Finally, add a message to let visitors know why your store is closed. You can do this by going to Online Store > Preferences and scrolling down to the Closing message section. Enter a message here, and then click Save.

Your Shopify site is now offline! When you’re ready to launch, simply go back into Settings > General and change the Status back to Open.
