How Do I Make Something Matte in Photoshop?

Matte photos have a soft, non-glossy finish. They can be used to create a vintage look or to give your photos a more subtle appearance. You can create a matte effect in Photoshop using the Matte command.

1.Open your image in Photoshop and duplicate the layer.

2.Click on the top layer and go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate. This will remove all the color from the image and leave it black and white.

3.Next, click on the bottom layer and go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Use a radius of 10px and click OK.

4.Now go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Levels and drag the black slider to the right until it reaches about 20%.

5.Finally, go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Matte and set the blending mode to Multiply.

The matte effect is now complete! If you want to adjust the intensity of the effect, simply change the opacity of the top layer.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, we strongly recommend that you do not attempt to use the software to make something matte. Making changes to an image can be complex and time-consuming, and unless you know exactly what you’re doing, you could end up causing irreversible damage.
