If you want to create torn edges in Photoshop, the first thing you’ll want to do is create a new layer. Choose the New Layer button from the Layer menu, or press Ctrl+N (PC: Command+N) to create a new layer.

Next, you’ll need to select the area you want to create the torn edge in. To do this, first use the Selection tool (or the lasso tool if you’re on a PC) to select the area you want to edit.

Once you’ve selected the area, use the Ungroup command (Ctrl+U on a PC) to break the selection into individual pieces.

PRO TIP: Torn edges in Photoshop can be created by using the eraser tool. When using the eraser tool, make sure to set the mode to “Erase to History” and the opacity to 100%. Then, simply erase along the edge of the image.

Finally, use the Pathfinder tool (P on a PC) to create the torn edge. To do this, first click on the Pathfinder tool and then select the Add Path button from the Path menu.

Next, select the point you want to start the edge at and then drag it to the point you want the edge to end at. Finally, release the mouse button.

If everything looks correct, you’ll now see the torn edge appear in the selected area. To finish off the edit, you can use the Erase tool (E on a PC) to remove any unwanted parts of the edge.
