How Do I Map an Image in Photoshop?

In this tutorial, we will be discussing how to map an image in Photoshop. We will be using the paint bucket tool and the clone stamp tool to achieve this.

Firstly, open up the image that you would like to map in Photoshop. You can do this by going to File > Open. Once the image is open, create a new layer by going to Layer > New > Layer.

Next, select the paint bucket tool from the toolbar on the left hand side of the screen. Then, click on the area of the image that you would like to fill with color. The paint bucket tool will fill in that area with the color that you have selected.

PRO TIP: When working with images in Photoshop, it is important to note that you cannot simply “map” an image like you can with a layer. An image must first be converted to a Smart Object before it can be mapped. To do this, simply right-click on the image in the Layers panel and select “Convert to Smart Object.”

If you make a mistake or if you want to change the color, you can use the clone stamp tool to fix it. To do this, select the clone stamp tool from the toolbar and then click on the area of the image that you want to copy.

Next, click on the area where you want to paste it. The clone stamp tool will copy and paste the area that you have selected.

Finally, when you are happy with your mapped image, go to File > Save As and save it as a .jpg file.
