How Do I Match a Color Between Two Images in Photoshop?

One of the most common questions we get asked here at Photoshop is “How do I match colors between two images?”. There are a few different ways to do this, but in this article, we’re going to show you our favorite method.

This method works best when you have two images that are similar in terms of colors and tones. For example, let’s say you have a photo of a flower, and you want to add it to a photo of a field. Both photos have different colors, but they share some common colors (like green and yellow).

To match colors between two images:

1. Open both images in Photoshop.

2. Select the layer of the image that you want to change in the Layers panel.

3. Click on the Adjustment Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers panel and select Hue/Saturation from the list.

4. In the Hue/Saturation dialog box, check the Colorize option. This will allow us to change the overall color of the image.

5. Use the Hue slider to find a color that matches the other image.

You can also use the Saturation and Lightness sliders to fine-tune the color. When you’re done, click OK.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, matching colors between two images in Photoshop can result in a loss of color data and/or an increase in file size.

Your image should now be matched to the other image in terms of color! If you want to learn more about color matching in Photoshop, check out our tutorial on How to Match Colors Between Two Images in Photoshop.
