There are times when you need to open multiple images in Photoshop and work on them together. Maybe you need to combine two images into one, or perhaps you need to add an element from one image into another.

Whatever the reason, it’s easy to do with layers. Here’s how:

First, open all of the images that you want to work with in Photoshop. You can do this by going to File > Open, or by double-clicking on the files in your Explorer window.

Once all of the images are open, go to the Window menu and make sure that Layers is checked. You should see a Layers panel appear on the right side of your screen.

Now, go to the first image that you want to add to your project and click on the layer that you want to use. Then, click on the little “lock” icon next to the layer name to unlock it. This will allow you to move the layer around.

PRO TIP: We would like to warn you that opening multiple images in a layer in Photoshop may result in the loss of some or all of your data. This is because when you open multiple images in a layer, Photoshop automatically flattens the image.

Next, go back to your Layers panel and click on the “Create a New Layer” icon at the bottom. This will create a new layer above the one you just unlocked.

Now, drag the layer that you just unlocked from one image window into the other image window. You can also copy and paste it if you prefer. The layer will appear in both windows.

Repeat these steps for each image that you want to add to your project. When you’re done, you can lock all of the layers again by clicking on the “Lock All Layers” icon at the bottom of the Layers panel.

Conclusion:

So there you have it! Now you know how to open multiple images in a layer in Photoshop.
This technique can be useful for a variety of different projects. So next time you need to work with multiple images, give it a try!
