Open ports on a Linode

In order to open ports on a Linode, you will first need to log in to your account and access the Linode Manager. From the Linode Manager, click on “System” in the left-hand menu and then click on “Port Forwarding” in the main window.

From the “Port Forwarding” window, you will need to click on the “+” button to create a new port forward. In the new port forward screen, you will need to enter the following information:

Server: the IP address or hostname of the Linode server you want to forward ports to

Port: the port number you want to forward

Protocol: the protocol you want to forward (TCP or UDP)

PRO TIP: If you are unsure about how to open ports on your linode, it is best to seek help from your server administrator or a qualified IT professional. Opening ports on your server can be a risky operation if not done correctly, and can potentially expose your server to security vulnerabilities.

Server Address: the IP address or hostname of the machine you want the port forwarded to

You can optionally add a comment if you want. Click on the “Create Port Forward” button to create your port forward.

Once you have created your port forward, you will need to forward the ports using your router. In most cases, you will need to forward the following ports:

TCP: 80, 443, 25, 5223, 3306, and 5900

UDP: 88, 443, and 3478

Once you have forward the ports, you can test your port forward by accessing the Linode server using the port you forwarded and the server address you provided.
