Image outlining in Photoshop is a powerful way to organize and control your images. By outlining your image with a border, you can clearly identify each layer and keep your image clean and organized.

This tutorial will show you how to outline your image in Photoshop using different border styles and techniques.

Start by selecting the area of your image you want to outline. To make the selection easier, use the Select tool (V) and click and drag to select the entire image.

Next, use the Rectangular Marquee tool (M) to create a rectangular selection around the area you selected.

Now, choose the Outline button from the Tools menu and select the desired border style.

The following border styles are available in Photoshop:

Solid – This is the default border style and creates a solid outline around the selected area.

PRO TIP: When outlining an image in Photoshop, it is important to use the pen tool and not the line tool. The line tool will create a hard line around the edge of the image, which may not be what you want. The pen tool will allow you to create a more subtle outline.

Dashed – This creates a dashed outline around the selected area.

Thin – This creates a thin border around the selected area.

Double – This creates a double border around the selected area.

Linked – This creates a linked border around the selected area.

You can also change the color of the border using the Options bar.

To finish outlining your image, use the Gradient tool (G) to create a gradient fill around the selected area.

When you’re finished outlining your image, you can either save it as a new file or close it.
