How Do I Outline an Object in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 12:05 pm

When it comes to creating graphics for the web, one of the most important skills you can learn is how to outline an object in Photoshop. This guide will show you how to do just that, using some simple steps and a little bit of patience.

The first thing you need to do is open up Photoshop and create a new document. Once you have your document open, create a new layer by clicking on the “Create a new layer” icon at the bottom of the Layers palette.

PRO TIP: When using the pen tool in Photoshop to outline an object, be careful not to accidentally click and drag on the image. If you do, you will create a new shape layer instead of selecting the object.

Now that you have a new layer, use the Pen tool to draw a path around the object that you want to outline. To do this, click on the Pen tool in the Tools palette and then click around the object to create a path.

Once you have your path, make sure that the “Stroke Path” option is selected in the options bar at the top of the screen.

Now that your path is created, it’s time to stroke it. To do this, simply click on the “Stroke” button in the options bar. This will bring up a dialog box where you can choose how thick you want your line to be and what color you want it to be. Once you have those options set, simply click “OK” and your line will be stroked!

Conclusion:

Outlining an object in Photoshop is a great way to create graphics for the web. By following these simple steps, you can easily create a path around any object and stroke it with any color or thickness that you desire.
