How Do I Preview My Shopify Store?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 3:59 am

If you’re new to Shopify and want to get a feel for how your store will look before you launch, you can create a preview of your store. A preview lets you see what your store looks like without making it live to the public. Anyone who has the link to your preview can see it, so you can share it with friends or family to get their feedback.

To create a preview of your store:

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Preferences. 2. In the Store visibility section, check the box next to I have a password for my store, and then enter a password in the Password field. 3. Click Save.

4. Copy the URL of your store from the Address bar in your browser, and then paste it into a new browser window or tab. Add /preview after the .myShopify URL (for example, myshopify-domain.myshopify/preview). 5. When prompted, enter the password that you created in step 2.

Now anyone who has the link to your preview can see what your shop looks like. When you’re ready to make your shop live, simply uncheck the box next to I have a password for my store in the Store visibility section of your Preferences page.”

PRO TIP: If you are not sure how to preview your Shopify store, do not attempt to do so without first consulting Shopify support or an experienced web developer. Incorrectly previewing your store could result in lost data or a broken website.
