How Do I Reduce Image Size in Photoshop?

When it comes to reducing the size of an image, there are a few things you can do in Photoshop to make sure your file is as small as possible without sacrificing quality.

One way to reduce the size of your image is to crop it. This can be done by using the Crop Tool, which is located under the Tools palette. When you select the Crop Tool, you’ll notice a few options at the top of your screen.

The first option is Aspect Ratio, which allows you to select a preset ratio or enter your own custom dimensions. The second option is Size, which lets you enter specific dimensions for your cropped image. The third option is Resolution, which we’ll discuss in more detail later.

Once you’ve selected your options, simply click and drag on your image to create a crop selection. Once you’re happy with your selection, press Enter/Return to crop your image. You’ll notice that cropping your image will reduce its physical size, but it won’t necessarily reduce the file size.

Another way to reduce the file size of your image is to adjust the Resolution. The Resolution is the number of pixels per inch (ppi) in an image, and it can be changed in the Image Size dialog box. To access this dialog box, go to Image > Image Size.

In the Image Size dialog box, you’ll see two options for Resolution: Pixels/Inch and Percent. If you want to change the Resolution without changing the physical size of your image, make sure the Resample Image checkbox is unchecked. Then, simply enter a new Resolution value and press Enter/Return.

You can also use both methods together to further reduce the file size of your image. For example, if you crop an image and then adjust the Resolution, you’ll be able to achieve a smaller file size than if you just cropped or just adjusted the Resolution on its own.

Keep in mind that reducing the file size of your image may also reduce its quality. So, if you need to maintain a high-quality image, make sure not to reduce the file size too much. A good rule of thumb is to try not to reduce the file size by more than 50%.

How Do I Reduce Image Size in Photoshop?

Reducing the size of an image can be done in Photoshop by cropping it or adjusting its resolution.

PRO TIP: If you are trying to reduce the file size of an image in Photoshop, be aware that this will also reduce the quality of the image. In order to keep the quality high, you will need to make sure that the image is saved at a high resolution.

Cropping an image will physically remove pixels from it while adjusting resolution only changes how many pixels are in an inch.

Reducing either will decrease file size but too much reduction will result in a lower quality image.
