How Do I Restrict Shopify Countries?

If you want to limit the countries that can access your Shopify store, there are a few steps you’ll need to take. First, you’ll need to set up GeoIP blocking.

GeoIP blocking allows you to block traffic from specific countries based on the visitor’s IP address. You can read more about GeoIP blocking and how to set it up here.

Once you’ve set up GeoIP blocking, you can then restrict access to your store by country. To do this, go to your Shopify Admin, and then click on Settings > General. Next, click “Manage” to edit.

Go to shopify settings & general shipping

From there, scroll down to the “Store Availability section, and select the countries that you want to allow access to your store. You can do this by going to the “Rest of World” section and clicking “Edit zone” from the action button. Next, set up a zone name and deselect the default rest of the world option. Finally, scroll through the countries you’d like to allow purchases in your store. Make sure to click “Save” once you’re done.

You can also use an app to restrict access to your store. There are a few different apps available, and you can find them by searching for “country restrictions” in the Shopify App Store.

These apps will allow you to block traffic from specific countries, and they usually have a free trial so that you can try them out before deciding whether or not to purchase them.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to restrict countries in your Shopify shop, it’s important to be aware of a few things first.

1. Make sure you have the correct shipping settings configured for your shop. Otherwise, customers from restricted countries may still be able to place orders, which you may then be unable to fulfill.

2. Be aware that restricting countries can impact your search engine optimization (SEO). If customers from a particular country are unable to reach your shop, this may hurt your ranking in that country’s search results.

3. Make sure you test the country restrictions before making your shop live. This way, you can ensure that everything is working as intended and that customers from the countries you want to allow can still access your shop.

Conclusion:

Restricting access to your Shopify store by country is a good way to limit the amount of international traffic that you receive. By using GeoIP blocking and restricting access by country, you can make sure that only the countries that you want to sell to can see your store.
