How Do I Set Up a Payment Gateway on Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 10:17 pm

A payment gateway is a service that allows businesses to accept credit card and electronic payments. Payment gateways typically work with point-of-sale (POS) systems to process credit card transactions in brick-and-mortar stores, and with eCommerce platforms and mobile apps to process online and mobile payments.

If you’re using Shopify as your eCommerce platform, you can choose from over 100 different payment gateways to connect to your shop. In this article, we’ll show you how to set up a payment gateway on Shopify.

1. Log in to your Shopify admin panel

First, you’ll need to log in to your Shopify admin panel. If you don’t have a Shopify account yet, you can sign up for one here. Once you’ve logged in, click on the Settings tab in the left-hand sidebar.

2. Click on the Payment Providers section

In the Settings tab, you’ll see a section called Payment Providers. Click on this section to expand it.

3. Choose your payment gateway

Now it’s time to choose your payment gateway. Shopify supports over 100 different payment gateways, so you’ll have plenty of options to choose from. To help narrow down your choices, click on the Add Payment Method drop-down menu and select your country.

This will show you all of the available payment gateways for your country. Once you’ve found a payment gateway that you want to use, click on the Learn More button next to it.

PRO TIP: When setting up a payment gateway on Shopify, it is important to be aware that there are fees associated with using a payment gateway. Be sure to read the terms and conditions of your payment gateway carefully to avoid any unexpected charges.
