How do I setup a static IP with Google Cloud?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 8:33 pm

Setting up a static IP on Google Cloud is simple. First, create a new Cloud Platform project and select the Google Cloud Platform Services option. In the Projects panel, select the Compute Engine instance type that you want to use for your static IP. Next, click the Networks tab and select the Create static IP button.

PRO TIP: If you are using Google Cloud Platform, setting up a static IP is a little different than what you may be used to. In order to do this, you will need to use the Cloud Console. The first thing you need to do is create a new project, or select an existing project. Next, go to the VM instances page and click on the instance you want to assign a static IP to. In the instance details page, click on the ‘Network interfaces’ tab. Here, you will see a list of all the network interfaces for that particular instance. Select the network interface that you want to assign a static IP to and click on the ‘Edit’ button. In the ‘Edit network interface’ page, scroll down to the ‘IP addresses’ section and click on the ‘Static external address’ drop-down menu. Here, you will be able to select from a list of available static IP addresses. Once you have selected an IP address, click on the ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the page.

In the Static IP configuration dialog, enter the desired IP address and subnet mask. Finally, select the Create static IP button. Your static IP will be created and displayed in the Networks tab.
