How Do I Undo Black and White in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 10:30 pm

To undo black and white in Photoshop, first make sure that the image is in RGB color mode. Then, go to the Image > Adjustments > Desaturate menu item.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, undoing black and white in Photoshop can result in losing all of your work. Make sure to save your work before attempting to undo black and white.

This will bring up a dialog box. Choose the desired level of saturation from the drop-down menu, and click OK.

If you want to keep your image in black and white but just lighten or darken it, you can use the Image > Adjustments > Levels or Image > Adjustments > Curves menu items. Again, make sure your image is in RGB color mode before using either of these commands.
