PHP is a popular web scripting language that enables you to create dynamic web pages. PHP is commonly used on web servers to provide a platform for your website’s content and to interact with web browsers.

When you install HostGator, we include the latest version of PHP. However, you may want to update your PHP to the latest version if you notice any compatibility or performance issues.

To update your PHP in HostGator:

1. Log in to your HostGator account.

2. Click the “Hosting” tab in the upper left corner of the account home page.

3. Click “Manage Server” in the left column.

4. Click “Configure Server” in the upper right column.

5. In the “Server Configuration” panel, click the “PHP” tab.

6. In the “PHP Settings” panel, click the “Update PHP” button.

7. On the “Update PHP” dialog box, click the “OK” button.

8. The “Update PHP” dialog box will close.

9. Your server will restart.

10. Your website will be updated with the latest version of PHP.

PRO TIP: If you are using HostGator to host your website, it is important to keep your PHP version up to date. Outdated versions of PHP can have security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by hackers. Additionally, new features and functions may not be available in older versions of PHP. To update your PHP version, login to your HostGator cPanel and click on the “Select PHP Version” icon. From there, you can select the desired PHP version from the drop-down menu and click on the “Set as current” button.
