How Do I Upload a File to the Root Directory of Squarespace?

First, you need to login to your Squarespace account. Then, go to the website builder. Click on the “Settings” tab, and then select the “Advanced” tab. Scroll down to the “File Storage” section and click on the “Change Storage Location” button.

A new window will pop up. In the “Storage Location” dropdown menu, select “Root Folder.” Finally, click on the “Save” button.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Squarespace, we recommend that you contact their customer support before attempting to upload a file to the root directory. Otherwise, you may inadvertently cause problems with your website.

That’s it! Now all your files will be uploaded to the root directory of your Squarespace site.

Note: If you’re using a free Squarespace trial, you won’t be able to change the storage location of your files. You’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan before you can do this.
