How Do I Upload a Product to WooCommerce?

Last updated on January 16, 2023 @ 11:50 am

Assuming you have already downloaded and installed WooCommerce, the first thing you need to do is log in to your WordPress site. Go to: WooCommerce > Products.

On this screen, you can add a new product in several different ways:

PRO TIP: If you are planning to upload a product to WooCommerce, please be aware that there is a risk of data loss. Please backup your database and files before proceeding.
  • Simple Product – A simple product is a physical item that you ship to your customer.
  • Grouped Product – A grouped product is a collection of simple products that can be purchased together.
  • External/Affiliate Product – An external or affiliate product is a product you are selling from another site (for example, Amazon).
  • Variable Product – A variable product is a physical item with multiple variations, such as size or color.

For this article, we will focus on adding a simple product:

  1. Start by giving your product a name and description. The name will be displayed on your website, while the description will be used to describe your product on the product page.
  2. Next, set the product’s regular price and sale price (if applicable). You can also choose to enable customer reviews for the product and select the product’s categories and tags.
  3. Add product images and videos by clicking on the “Add Product Images” button. These images will be displayed on the product page and in the product gallery. You can also set a featured image, which will be used as the main image for the product.
  4. Set the product’s inventory options by filling in the “SKU” (stock keeping unit), the “Manage Stock” option, and the “Stock Status” option. The SKU is a unique identifier for the product, while the “Manage Stock” option allows you to track the product’s stock levels. The “Stock Status” option lets you specify whether the product is in stock or out of stock.
  5. Finally, set the product’s shipping options by filling in the “Weight,” “Dimensions,” and “Shipping class” fields. The “Weight” field is used to calculate the shipping cost, while the “Dimensions” field is used to calculate the size of the package. The “Shipping class” field allows you to group similar products together for shipping purposes.

Once you have completed all of these steps, you can publish your product by clicking on the “Publish” button. Your new product will now be visible on your website and available for purchase by your customers.
