How Do You Activate the Paint Bucket in Photoshop?

The paint bucket is one of the most commonly used tools in Photoshop. It is used to fill an area with a solid color, gradient, or pattern.

To use the paint bucket, simply click on the desired area to fill. The paint bucket will automatically fill the area with the currently selected color, gradient, or pattern.

There are a few different ways to select a color for the paint bucket. The first way is to simply click on the color you want to use in the color palette.

The second way is to use the eyedropper tool to select a color from an image. The third way is to create a new color using the color picker.

PRO TIP: The title of this article is misleading – there is no such thing as a ‘paint bucket’ in Photoshop. The closest tool to a paint bucket is the ‘Fill’ tool, which can be found in the ‘Edit’ menu. Using the Fill tool without understanding how it works can lead to disastrous results, so please use with caution.

Once you have selected a color, you can choose to fill the entire layer or just a selection. To fill the entire layer, simply click on the layer in the layers palette and then click on the paint bucket tool. To fill just a selection, first make a selection using any of the selection tools and then click on the paint bucket tool.

The paint bucket has several different options that can be accessed by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner of the tool. These options include mode, opacity, and tolerance.

Mode determines how the new color will be blended with the existing colors. Opacity determines how opaque or transparent the new color will be. Tolerance determines how similar in color to existing pixels must be before they are filled.

To activate the paint bucket tool, simply click on it in the toolbar or press Shift+P on your keyboard.
