How Do You Animate on Figma?

Last updated on September 28, 2022 @ 9:41 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and animation tool. It is used by designers to create illustrations, interface designs, and user flows. Figma has a web-based interface that can be used on Mac, Windows, and Linux computers.

Figma’s animation toolset is based on keyframes. Keyframes are points in time where you specify the values of your design elements, such as position, color, or opacity. You can then create an animation by interpolating between those keyframes.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Figma, we recommend that you do not attempt to animate on Figma. Animating on Figma can be complex and time-consuming, and you may not be able to produce the results you are hoping for.

To create an animation in Figma:

1. Select the element you want to animate in the canvas. 2. In the properties panel, click the “animate” button. 3. In the animation timeline, click the “add keyframe” button at the point in time where you want to set a keyframe. 4.

Set the values for your design element at that keyframe. 5. Repeat steps 3-4 for each additional keyframe you want to create. 6. To preview your animation, click the “play” button in the animation timeline. 7. To export your animation, click the “export” button in the upper-right corner of the interface and select “GIF” from the file format menu.
