There are a few different ways that you can create area type with the type tool in Illustrator or Photoshop. You can either create a new type layer, or you can select the area where you want to add your text and then click on the “T” icon in the toolbar.

If you want to create a new type layer, simply click on the “T” icon in the toolbar and then click anywhere on your canvas. This will create a new type layer that you can then start typing into.

If you want to select an area to add your text, simply click on the “T” icon in the toolbar and then click and drag to select the area you want to add your text to. Once you have the area selected, you can start typing into it.

PRO TIP: When creating an area type with the type tool in Illustrator or Photoshop, be sure to create a new layer for the type. Otherwise, the type will be placed on the background layer and will be difficult to edit later.

Once you have your text typed out, you can use the various options in the “Type” menu to change the appearance of your text. For example, you can change the font, size, color, alignment, etc.

One thing to keep in mind when creating area type is that it will automatically wrap around any objects that are within its boundaries. So if you have an object that is in the way of your text, it will simply wrap around it.
