In Illustrator, it is possible to divide a circle into six equal parts by using the Rectangle Tool (M), the Ellipse Tool (L), and the Direct Selection Tool (A). The steps are as follows:

1. With the Rectangle Tool (M), draw a rectangular shape inside the circle.

The rectangle should be as large as the circle and as close to the center of the circle as possible.

2. With the Ellipse Tool (L), use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to select the top-left corner of the rectangle.

3. With the Rectangle Tool (M), use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to drag the bottom-left corner of the rectangle up towards the top-left corner of the circle.

4. Drag the right-most corner of the rectangle down towards the bottom-left corner of the circle.

5. Drag the left-most corner of the rectangle up towards the right-most corner of the circle.

6. Release the mouse button.

The rectangle has been divided the circle into six equal parts.

PRO TIP: This technique is for advanced users only. Dividing a circle into 6 equal parts in Illustrator is a complex process that should not be attempted by beginners.

The finished rectangle should look like the image below.
