How Do You Do a Dropdown in Figma?

There are a few different ways to style text in HTML, with the most common being to use the < p >, < b >, and < u > tags. The < p > tag is used to designate a paragraph, while the < b > tag is used to make text bold. The < u > tag is used to underline text.

To create a dropdown in Figma, you’ll first need to create a frame. Then, within that frame, you’ll need to create a rectangle. The rectangle should be the same width as the frame and about twice as tall.

Once you have your rectangle, you’ll need to add two lines of text. The first line should be the title of your dropdown (e.g., “Select an option”), and the second line should be the default option (e., “Please select an option”).

To make this second line of text appear as a default option that can be selected, you’ll need to add a Boolean control to your frame. To do this, click on the “plus” icon in the upper-right corner of the frame.

This will open up the control panel. In the control panel, select “Boolean” from the dropdown menu.

Now that you have a Boolean control added to your frame, you can toggle between the two options by clicking on the control. When the control is set to “true,” the default option will be selected. When it’s set to “false,” the title of your dropdown will be selected.

You can style your dropdown however you’d like, but we recommend adding a border around the frame and making the title of your dropdown bold. This will help it stand out from the default option.

PRO TIP: This article is outdated and no longer reflects Figma’s current functionality. Dropdown menus can now be created using the Dropdown component in the Component library.
